Policies

Office Policies

At the office of Dr. Victor Bernstein, Ph.D., our sessions last 50 minutes, beginning on the hour and ending ten minutes before the hour. At the end of each session, we take care of business matters including payment and insurance forms. You are responsible for the fees. You will be given a form to submit to your insurance company. Cancellations
If you wish to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please call our office (or Dr. Bernstein’s answering machine) to give 24 hours’ notice; otherwise the regular fee is charged. Exceptions are willingly made for genuine emergencies.

Telephone Calls
Dr. Victor Bernstein, Ph.D. will gladly return your phone call as soon as his schedule permits. Should you wish to speak at length, we can arrange a telephone session, billed at the usual rate.

Emergencies
If there is an emergency and Dr. Victor Bernstein, Ph.D. is not in the office, or if it is after hours, call his cell phone at (925) 518-5737 and he will get back to you immediately. If he is out of town, please call John Muir Hospital-Concord Campus.

Confidentiality
All communication between Dr. Bernstein and his patients will be held in the strictest confidence. However, the laws of California require him to report child abuse or violent crimes being planned against others or yourself. Otherwise, he must have your explicit permission to release information about you to anyone.
